Publishing Policies
Back to topCopyright and Licensing
Zetline Publishers respects the intellectual property rights of authors and supports transparent licensing arrangements for published research. The copyright and licensing terms applicable to an article are determined by the publication agreement and the access model of the journal.
Where an article is published under an open-access license, the applicable Creative Commons license will be clearly identified on the article page and within the published article. Authors and readers should review the specific license terms before reusing published material.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all submitted material is original or that appropriate permissions have been obtained for third-party material, including previously published text, photographs, illustrations, tables, figures, datasets, and other copyrighted content.
Authors should not submit material for which they do not have the necessary rights or permissions. Any required permissions should be obtained before publication and appropriately acknowledged within the manuscript.
Peer Review Policy
Zetline Publishers is committed to maintaining a fair, rigorous, and constructive peer-review process appropriate to the scope and publication model of each journal.
Following submission, manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine whether the work is appropriate for the journal, falls within its scope, and meets essential submission, ethical, and scholarly requirements.
Manuscripts that proceed to peer review are evaluated by reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Reviewers are asked to assess the scientific or scholarly quality of the work, methodological soundness, originality, clarity, relevance, and overall contribution to the field.
Reviewer comments are considered by the handling editor when reaching an editorial decision. Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewer and editorial comments.
The possible outcomes of the editorial process may include rejection, invitation to revise, or acceptance, depending on the journal's editorial policy and the assessment of the manuscript.
Zetline expects reviewers to maintain confidentiality, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and provide objective and constructive assessments. Reviewers must not use unpublished information obtained during peer review for personal or professional advantage.
Authors are likewise expected to respond to reviewer comments professionally and provide clear explanations for any requested changes that they do not implement.
Ethical Guidelines for Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to Zetline Publishers are expected to conduct and report their research responsibly and honestly. Manuscripts must comply with applicable ethical standards, institutional requirements, and the policies of the selected journal. Authors should ensure that their research has been conducted appropriately and that the manuscript provides an accurate and transparent representation of the work.
Accurate Presentation
Authors must present their research findings accurately and objectively. Data must not be fabricated, falsified, selectively manipulated, or deliberately misrepresented. Conclusions should be supported by the evidence presented in the manuscript.
Authorship
Authorship should reflect substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the research, together with meaningful participation in drafting or critically revising the manuscript and approval of the final version. Individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors solely because of their position, supervision, funding, or affiliation. All authors should agree to the submitted manuscript and its contents.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation. Where no relevant conflict exists, authors should provide an appropriate declaration stating this.
Data Integrity
Authors must maintain accurate research records and report methods and results sufficiently clearly to support appropriate evaluation and, where feasible, reproducibility. Data should not be altered or selectively omitted in a manner that misrepresents the research findings. Where data cannot be publicly shared because of privacy, confidentiality, legal, ethical, or security restrictions, the manuscript should clearly state the applicable limitation.
Research Ethics
Research involving human participants, identifiable human data, animals, or other regulated materials must comply with applicable ethical requirements. Where required, authors should provide information regarding ethics committee or institutional review approval and informed consent. Personal information must be handled in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.
Informed Consent
Where a manuscript contains identifiable information, photographs, case details, or other information that could reasonably identify an individual, appropriate informed consent should be obtained where required. Authors should avoid unnecessary disclosure of personally identifiable information.
Simultaneous Submission
Authors must not submit substantially the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals. A manuscript should remain under consideration at only one journal at a time unless the authors have formally withdrawn it or received confirmation that it is no longer under consideration.
Originality
Submitted work must be original and must not contain plagiarized, fabricated, or falsified material. Authors should properly acknowledge the work of others through appropriate citations. Duplicate publication and substantial redundant publication should be disclosed and avoided.
Permissions
Authors must obtain appropriate permission to reproduce copyrighted material when permission is required. This includes previously published text, images, tables, figures, photographs, and other third-party materials.
Citation Integrity
References should accurately represent the sources used in the research. Authors should not add citations solely to increase citation counts, manipulate scholarly metrics, or provide inappropriate reciprocal citation.
Post-Publication Corrections
Authors have a continuing responsibility to notify the journal if they discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work. Zetline may publish a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or other appropriate notice when necessary.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
Authors may use artificial intelligence tools where their use is consistent with responsible research and the requirements of the relevant journal. AI tools must not be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, or accountability of scholarly work. Authors remain fully responsible for the manuscript, including any text, analysis, references, figures, data interpretation, and conclusions produced or assisted by an AI tool.
Research Misconduct
Suspected fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, unethical research practices, authorship manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other serious breaches of publication ethics may be investigated according to the applicable editorial procedures. Where concerns are substantiated, appropriate corrective or editorial action may be taken.
Authors are encouraged to review the complete ethical requirements of the journal before submission. Compliance with these principles helps protect the integrity of the scholarly record and supports trust between authors, reviewers, editors, readers, and the wider research community.
Article Processing Charges (APCs) and Funding
Back to topWhat Are Article Processing Charges?
Article Processing Charges (APCs) are publication-related charges that may be applied to accepted manuscripts in journals that operate under an author-funded or open-access publication model. APCs help support the editorial, technical, production, hosting, archiving, and administrative activities required to publish scholarly articles.
An APC is not a fee for acceptance and does not replace editorial assessment or peer review. Editorial decisions should be based on the scholarly suitability of the manuscript and the applicable journal policies.
The APC, if applicable, varies according to the individual journal and its publication model. Authors should consult the specific journal's APC information before submission.
Editorial Work
APC-supported activities may include editorial administration, manuscript handling, peer-review coordination, communication with authors and reviewers, and ongoing journal development.
Technical Infrastructure and Publishing Systems
Publication services require online infrastructure for manuscript submission, editorial management, article hosting, metadata management, website operation, and long-term access to published content.
Article Production
Following acceptance, publication production may include manuscript preparation, formatting, typesetting, XML or other structured content production, proof preparation, correction handling, and final online publication.
Digital Preservation and Archiving
Publication services may include the technical processes required to maintain article records, metadata, digital files, and long-term access through appropriate preservation or archiving arrangements.
Author and Reader Support
Publishing operations also involve administrative communication and support for authors, reviewers, editors, and readers throughout the publication lifecycle.
Journal Article Processing Charges
APCs are determined at the journal level because publishing requirements, article types, editorial scope, production requirements, and publication models may differ between journals. Before submitting a manuscript, authors should review the APC information displayed on the relevant Zetline journal website. The applicable charge, currency, payment conditions, exemptions, discounts, and waiver provisions will be stated by the journal. Authors should not assume that an APC applies to every Zetline journal or every article type.
Discounts and Waivers
Zetline Publishers recognizes that publication charges may create financial difficulties for some authors and research groups. Where a journal provides discounts or APC waivers, eligibility is determined according to that journal's stated policy. Authors who require financial assistance should review the applicable journal's waiver and discount conditions before submission or contact the journal's designated editorial or publishing support team. Requests for financial assistance are considered independently from the editorial assessment of the manuscript. The ability to pay an APC should not determine the scholarly decision on whether a manuscript is suitable for publication.
Conditions for Additional Article Processing Charges
Any additional charges associated with an article must be clearly communicated by the relevant journal before they become payable. Where charges are associated with article length, colour figures, supplementary production requirements, special formatting, expedited services, or other publication services, the applicable conditions and rates will be stated on the journal's official publication-fee information. Authors should review these conditions before submitting materials that may require additional production services.
Accelerated Publication
Zetline journals may offer accelerated publication services for selected manuscripts where such a service is available. Accelerated publication may involve allocating additional editorial and production resources to shorten the time between acceptance and publication. It does not guarantee acceptance and does not alter the journal's scholarly or ethical requirements. Where an accelerated publication service is offered, the applicable eligibility criteria, estimated timeline, and additional charge will be communicated clearly to the author before the service is confirmed. Authors should contact the relevant journal or publishing support team for current information regarding accelerated publication availability.
Who Is Responsible for Paying the Article Processing Charge?
Where an APC applies, the corresponding author is normally responsible for coordinating payment on behalf of the authors. The charge may be paid by the author, research group, institution, employer, funder, society, or another organization that has agreed to support the publication. Authors should confirm whether their institution or funding body provides support for publication charges before completing the payment process. Responsibility for payment does not affect the editorial evaluation or peer-review process.
When and How Do Authors Pay?
Where an APC is applicable, payment information is provided after the manuscript has received the relevant editorial decision and the article has entered the appropriate publication stage. Authors should not send publication payments to unofficial individuals or third-party accounts. Payment instructions should be obtained only through Zetline Publishers or the official website of the relevant journal. Available payment methods, currency, invoicing requirements, tax treatment, deadlines, and other payment conditions may vary between journals. Authors should follow the payment instructions provided with their publication invoice or official APC communication. If an author believes that a payment request is suspicious or inconsistent with the information provided by the journal, they should contact the official Zetline publishing support channel before making payment.
Funding of Open Access Articles
Open-access publication can be supported through a range of funding sources, including research grants, universities, research institutes, hospitals, government agencies, foundations, learned societies, and other organizations. Authors should check the requirements of their research funder or institution regarding open-access publication and the use of research funds for article processing charges. Funding arrangements do not influence the editorial assessment of a manuscript. Where an article is accepted and the relevant journal operates an APC-supported publication model, authors may use eligible institutional or grant funding to meet the applicable publication charge. Authors should retain records of relevant funding information and provide funding acknowledgements in accordance with the requirements of the journal and the funding organization.
ORCID
Back to topWhat is ORCID?
ORCID, the Open Researcher and Contributor ID, provides researchers with a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes one researcher from another. Because names can be shared, change over time, or appear in different formats across publications, a persistent identifier can help maintain a consistent connection between a researcher and their scholarly work.
An ORCID iD can be associated with publications, datasets, affiliations, grants, peer-review activities, and other research contributions. Researchers can control the information they make publicly visible through their ORCID record.
ORCID is an independent, not-for-profit initiative that provides persistent identifiers for researchers and contributors across the research ecosystem.
Why Should You Use ORCID?
Using an ORCID iD can help authors maintain an accurate and consistent scholarly identity across different publications and research systems.
ORCID can help:
- Distinguish you from other researchers with similar or identical names.
- Connect your publications and other research outputs with your researcher profile.
- Reduce ambiguity caused by name variations, initials, or changes in affiliation.
- Simplify the transfer of author information between participating scholarly systems.
- Improve the accuracy of publication and researcher records.
- Help institutions, publishers, funders, and research organizations connect your contributions with the correct researcher.
Authors are encouraged to provide their ORCID iD when submitting manuscripts where the journal's submission system supports ORCID integration.
How do I Get an ORCID iD?
Create Your ORCID iD
Researchers can register for an ORCID iD directly through the official ORCID website. Registration is free and creates a persistent identifier that can be used throughout an academic or research career.
Building Your ORCID Record
After creating an ORCID iD, researchers can build their ORCID record by adding relevant information such as their name, affiliations, publications, datasets, grants, and other professional contributions. Authors should review their ORCID record regularly and keep the information accurate and up to date. When submitting a manuscript to a Zetline journal, authors may be asked to connect or provide their ORCID iD where ORCID integration is available.
